'An Introduction to Prana and Breath'

In this second of four classes, we switch the focus of meditation practice to the concept of breath and prana, or the energy/subtle body. The relationship between these two translates to a practice of pranayama, or 'pranic restraint'. Through varying methods of mindful breathing techniques, we begin to calm the mind and settle the nervous system. 
Topics include:
  • The origin of prana in the body
  • The respiratory system - how to breath consciously
  • The body's energy locks, or 'bandhas', and how they help channel and control breath.
  • Breathing techniques that prepare the body and mind for meditation.
